About Leslie

My name is Leslie. I live in Canada and I met Lindsay when she performed with the Oakville Symphony in Canada. I play both violin and piano and I practice two hours a day. I have been playing piano for 4 years and violin for 6 years.

I have a sister who looks just like me but is 4 years younger and also plays the violin and piano. Her name is Kristen.

I have a great teacher who is considered one of the top 5 in the world! Last year I was 9 years old and competed with 14 year olds in both violin and piano. I won a gold medal for piano, silver and bronze in violin. My future goals are to go to the Glenn Gould School of Music and
eventually go to Julliard School of Music.

I also love Classical Ballet and I am now enrolled in the Professional Division. I have been in the Nutcracker Ballet for the last 3 years and this year I was chosen for the role of "Bon-Bon" and "Skater".
                  

When I was only 16 months I won a beauty pageant for all of Ontario and was later in a Blue Cross commericial in selected US states.

 

Hobbies

My favorite hobbies are reading Nancy Drew books. Also, I just learned how to play chess and love it!

Question of the Month

What are your most creative and successful practice strategies?

 

I use colourful music beads to count how many times I have practiced a piece, study or scale.

I also use fun coloured post-it notes to tell my mommy my progress in practicing each day - I have a huge collection of post-it notes with lots of fun things on it about my practicing.

 

 

Favorite Songs to Play

My favorite piece to play right now is Ave Maria on the Violin - and Sonatina in G Major by Clementi, on the Piano. My favorite composers are Bach and Vivaldi. I love Bach's A minor Concerto.


Favorite Foods and TV Shows

My favorite foods are fetuccini alfredo and different types of fruits, especially lemons! My favorite TV cartoons include Strawberry Shortcake and re-runs of I Love Lucy (my mom's favorite too).
